Morning Briefing For Monday, August 24, 2009

We start the final week of football camp for most schools while some are already in school.

Here is the news of the morning off the recruiting websites....

AUSTIN HILL IS NARROWING IT DOWN....

Austin Hill is our rated six on on our top 100 Regardless of Position list for the class of 2010. He talks about Nebraska Football and the strong possibility of going to Nebraska. For more click here.

It's interesting to note that in the story it mentions nothing about Tyler Slavin possibly going to Nebraska. Interesting.

MORE SOUTH HILLS FOOTBALL

Well, it's a preview -- that's all. And sectionsports.com did a team preview of the Huskies for the upcoming season. Click here to read more.

Again no mention of Duarte transfer Jordan Canada. Hmm, interesting.

Another briefing will come tonight.

And on this Friday night...all is quiet in the recruiting world in the IE...

A check of the recruiting wires shows that if it's slow at this time of year, everyone is in football camp. We have been taking our regular tours on the IE and will share some insight in the near future. For now, here is the latest in our evening briefing....

GAREY HAS PROSPECTS

I know that this was a couple of days old by Daily Bulletin's Clay Fowler caught up with first year head coach Leonard Hudson (formerly at Pomona) and talk about his 2011 recruiting prospects. Click here to get the inside dope.

IT'S A PREVIEW....I GUESS

We go down to the San Gabriel Valley where sectionsports.com did a preview (albeit a lacking one) on the San Antonio League. And yes the favorite to win..South Hills - of course! Click here to read the rest of the preview on the league. BTW, they missed the best player on team....former Duarte prospect Jordan Canada.

LOYOLA'S BARR IS NARROWING IT DOWN

We go to the West San Gabriel Valley where Loyola's stud running back Anthony Barr is narrowing his choices on where he wants to play football at. Click here to read more.

And that is the brief for the evening. Many kids will be in football camp tomorrow, so if you are a parent, get out there and watch your kids at work. If you are a fan, try to go out and watch a practice of your favorite team. The clock is ticking toward the start of the football season.

Checking the Recruiting Wires...

We will do this every weekday morning and sometimes on the weekend.

Rivals.com and scout.com along with the recruiting page of ESPN.com do a great job of keeping everyone up to date on what is going on with recruiting.

So each morning and evening, we will posted titles of stories and links to the story so that you can read it. Consider it your daily recruiting briefing.

No stories today, but the big news outside of the IE is the commitment of Serra Wide Reciever Robert Woods to USC.

Does this affect the status of his teammate, class of 2011 Wide Receiver George Farmer? Click here to read the story on uscfootball.com (a rivals fan only site).

Greg Biggins is reporting that UCLA is very close to getting Oaks Christian RB Malcolm Jones. To read more click here. (Reaction: This could have direct ramifications to Jordon James if Jones does commit to the Bruins. Will UCLA take another RB or will they just be good with one. I think they'll take more than one and that James is good with them. But you never know.)

Welcome to the best of the IE Scouting....

Hello everyone. My name is James Escarcega. I am the director of scouting for the SGV/IE Scouting Service. We are very happy to start a recruiting blog that deals with football recruiting in the Inland Empire.

Our service is in it's second year and we are quickly being recognized as one of the leading voices for recruiting information in the Inland Empire. We starting in Pomona and work our way to Palm Springs and Palm Desert.

We get as much game film as possible and grade it, rank the players and then ship our lists to schools on the west coast. With the IE becoming the hot bed of recruiting in Southern California, there needs to be a blog that is totally dedicated to recruiting in the Inland Empire.

We will blog at least once a day and maybe even more. For now, welcome and if you have any questions, please email us a sgvierecruiting@gmail.com. We are also on Twitter at www.twitter.com/sgvierecruiting.

Welcome.
