The Kiffin Effect in the IE....

With the announcement of Lane Kiffin as the new HC at USC and Ed Orgeron as the new Recruiting Coordinator, that has a huge effect on the some of the IE best high school football prospects for the class of 2010. Let's take a look...

Ronald Powell (DE, Rancho Verde, 6-3, 240, 4.8e) - You better be sure that USC will be recruiting this player very hard. If there is one thing that Orgeron loves is a battle and he will not be scared with the fact that has to compete against Florida for this kid. Deep down in his heart, this kid has always loved SC. And if there is one guy that can get a kid to decommitt from one school to go to another... it's Orgeron. I'd be safe to say that Powell at best could be a soft commit to Florida right now.

Josh Shirley (OLB/DE, Kaiser, 6-3 1/2, 209, 4.57HT) -- USC has always wanted this kid to come to LA. He has waited a longtime to figure out where he wants to so. I have never thought that this kid was all that excited about SC, but that was before Orgeron entered the picture. I think he is there for SC to get. I am will to say that when all is said and done, he'll be a SC commit.

Possible Late Interest

Deantre Lewis (RB, Norco, 5-11, 174, 4.38HT) -- This is Oregeron's type of kid. He is a game changing RB that reminds some of Reggie Bush. Despite having a average night in the IE All-Star Game, he's senior highlight tape takes your breath away. Only hitch in this is if Todd McNair returns as RB coach. If they lose any kids at the RB position in the next couple of days in recruiting, I would not be surprised to see him get a late push from Kiffin. Insiders tell us that Oregon is coming in late on the prospect.

In checking around the area, it looks like the players that are committed to USC are keep strong to their word. All I will say that if Orgeron gets Powell and Shirley, it's a another slam dunk in the area for the men of Troy.
